Hair Transplant

Surgery at SkinMD MedSpa

At SkinMD MedSpa, we are proud to offer advanced Follicular Unit Extraction (FUE) hair transplant surgery—a minimally invasive, precision-based technique designed to restore natural-looking hair growth with minimal downtime.

This state-of-the-art hair transplant procedure at our Dearborn, MI office is an excellent option for both men and women experiencing hair thinning or loss. FUE delivers effective, long-lasting results by carefully transplanting individual hair follicles, allowing for natural regrowth with minimal scarring or discomfort.

FUE (Follicular Unit Extraction) is a modern method of hair restoration that involves extracting individual hair follicles from a donor area—typically the back or sides of the scalp—and transplanting them into areas experiencing thinning or hair loss. Unlike traditional strip harvesting techniques, FUE does not require stitches or leave a linear scar, making it ideal for patients seeking a more discreet recovery and natural results.

How it works

Consultation

Every journey begins with a personalized consultation. During this session, our specialist will:

  • Assess your hair loss pattern and scalp condition
  • Discuss your goals and expectations
  • Determine if you are a good candidate for FUE
  • Provide a customized treatment plan and quote

Surgery Day

  • Duration: Most FUE procedures take 4 to 8 hours, depending on the number of grafts.
  • Anesthesia: Local anesthesia is used to ensure comfort throughout the procedure.
  • Technique: Grafts are harvested and implanted with extreme precision to match your natural hair growth direction and density.

Recovery

  • Days 1–3: Mild redness, swelling, and sensitivity in both donor and recipient areas
  • Days 4–7: Formation of small scabs around implanted follicles (these fall off naturally)
  • 1–2 Weeks: Most patients can return to work and regular activities
  • 3–4 Weeks: Shedding of transplanted hairs is normal—this is part of the process

Results

  • 3–4 Months: Initial new hair growth becomes visible
  • 6–9 Months: Noticeable improvement in density and coverage
  • 12–14 Months: Full results are typically visible, with thicker, permanent hair growth
